Y-LOVE is an MC unlike any other. Having converted to Orthodox Judaism in 2000, and later taking on the traditions of Hasidism (the mystical branch of Orthodox Judaism), he weaves seamless rhymes in English, Yiddish, Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic. Having begun his journey to Judaism as an inquisitive child, and remaining interested in Judaism throughout adolescence and eventually converting to Orthodoxy as an adult, Y-LOVE's story of conversion and renewal has brought inspiration to many a Shabbat table in Brooklyn. His experiences with racism and anti-Semitism and subsequent survival and overcoming prejudice, in his words, show that "the crown of Torah is truly available for all who want it." Y-LOVE is vocal as an ardent supporter of anti-racist organizations and causes, as well as promotion of interfaith unity, particularly between the Jewish and Muslim communities. Y-LOVE stands out as a rare, yet forceful, left-wing voice in an increasingly conservative religious populace. Y-LOVE's unique viewpoints in black-Jewish relations have gained him praise throughout the Orthodox world. This year, Y-LOVE founded the Clicks of Hope Foundation, a charity dedicated to assisting victims of domestic and hate-motivated violence and disability abuse with acute expenses of rebuilding their lives. Y-LOVE won the Jewish Music Awards' 2006 award for Best Hiphop Artist and was featured as one of 2006's Best Emerging Jewish Artists at the New York Museum for Jewish Heritage. Y-LOVE is a contributing editor to jewschool.com, the web's leading progressive Jewish blog, and his blog, thisisbabylon.net, has already begun to gain notariety for its pro-coexistence views. He has been reviewed in numerous publications such as:
